System configuration is a tool by Microsoft that you can use to identify problems that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. It is a great tool used by many IT professionals to speed up the startup time on their computer. Also, it can be used to enter safe mode to troubleshoot issues on your computer. In this tutorial, we will be only covering the Startup tab in System Configuration. In the Startup tab, this is where we would go when your computer slow on startup.
Why My Computer Boot Up So Slow?
The reason why your computer booting up slow is because a lot of programs is running in the background of your computer. So, before using System Configuration you need to uninstall all the software that you are not using. To do that:
- Go to Start and type “Programs and Features” and click it from the search result.
- In the list of programs that are installed on your computer, right click the program that you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.
How to Use System Configuration to Fix When Computer Slow on Startup
This section is the excited part where we would be able to fix our slow boot up time. When you implement this method, you will notice a significant difference when your computer starts up. So let us get down to business.
Note: Please note that this method will not speed up the whole process of your computer, only the startup.
To speed up when your computer slow on startup, follow these quick and simple steps:
- Hold the Windows button and press R for the Run dialog box.
- Type msconfig and press Enter for the System Configuration window.
- Click the Startup tab.
- From the list of Startup Items, deselect or un-check the programs that you do not want to run at startup.
- Click OK.
- You will be required to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
